10 kick ass career quotes.

I challenge anyone to find me a more depressing time of the year than those few horrific hours that fill the evening before you have to go back to work after Christmas holidays.

It’s not necessarily that you don’t like your job (though, if you do, multiply that figure by 893,578,397), it’s just that, well, you developed a taste for slow mornings and lie ins and your first coffee in the sun as you casually flick through a magazine and contemplate just what will you do with all those endless sunshiney hours ahead, and would it really be too early for your first rosé of the day? (Absolutely not, is always the answer to that question, BTW.)

But, unless you managed to snag yourself/make yourself (#feminism) a billionaire since you blitzed out of the office on December 23 – chances are that Prada wallet is looking a little bare and you’re back to the grind #workinghardforthemoney

And while I, for one, managed to stretch the inevitable out for a little bit longer than the rest of y’all, eventually the sun sets on every glorious day in the sun, and this week, I’m headed back to try and remember what the heck I actually do, while simultaneously trying not to vomit at the sheer size of my email inbox.

But it’s not all doom and gloom.  With a new working year, comes 365 brand new days to slay.  I’ll let some of my BFF’s tell you the rest…

(Oh don’t even try to pretend you’re not inspired…)

‘When you have a bad day, you go to bed, you wake up, and you work a little harder.’
– Michelle Obama

‘It’s very important to take risks.  I think that research is very important, but in the end, you have to work from your instinct and feelings and take those risks and be fearless.’
– Anna Wintour

‘Some days I’m confident.  Some days I feel like a loser.  There are no successful people who never feel like losers.’
– Diane von Furstenburg

‘Show up prepared, show up on time and ready to work.  Don’t be on your phone, don’t be distracted.  And don’t be tired.’
– Cindy Crawford

‘To me, bossy is not a pejorative term at all.  It means somebody’s passionate and engaged and ambitious and doesn’t mind leading.’
– Amy Poehler

‘Ignore the bitches.’
– Jennifer Lawrence

‘I always did something I was a little not ready to do.  I think that is how you grow.’
– Melissa Mayer

‘Some women chose to follow men, and some chose to follow their dreams.  If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.’
– Lady Gaga

‘Sometimes you just have to put on lip gloss and pretend to be psyched.’
– Mindy Kaling

And perhaps, the very most important of them all:

‘The only way to do great work, is to love what you do.’
– Steve Jobs

(Don’t even care a little bit that Steve is technically a dude, friends.  We’d have him over in our super awesome Ladies Only club, for services to technology, and basically, the world…)

And if you need anymore inspiration before you strut, Meryl-Streep-Devil-Wears-Prada-Style, back into the office in 2017, here’s a few (ok, so like a hour’s worth, but totes worth the time, hand on my heart promise) from the Business Queen herself – Oprah
